Oliver Bearman received a 10-place grid penalty for overtaking Carlos Sainz under red flag conditions during second practice for the Monaco Grand Prix. The incident occurred at La Rascasse after a red flag was shown for Oscar Piastri’s crash at Sainte Devote, with video footage showing a light panel instructing drivers to slow down. Bearman claimed he saw the flags but chose not to slow abruptly, stating it would have been more dangerous; however, the FIA disagreed and penalized him. The penalty was imposed to emphasize safety, especially in unpredictable situations like Monaco. Despite the setback, Bearman remained positive, highlighting improvements made with the car’s balance and performance during Friday’s practice sessions.
